Your firefighters are assigned to one of three teams working 48 hours on and 96 hours off. From two fire stations, we provide a daily response staffing of seven personnel that respond to fires, traffic accidents, specialized rescues, utility hazards, public service calls, and medical emergencies. All our personnel are trained in providing emergency medical care including paramedic services, and each fire station provides ambulances with two personnel.

The Fire Division Chief – Support, reports to the Fire Chief and has the autonomy to develop his programs including Risk Reduction, Fire Training, Community Relations & Volunteer programs, establish budget goals and develop and execute deployment models consistent with national standards, state & local law, city ordinances/policies, department mission, core values; in accordance with industry standards, seeking to provide for the safety & welfare of the citizens served, both residents and visitors. Through these processes, he exercises fiscal stewardship, transparency, and ethical management of public resources.
Other duties include fire prevention and community preparedness. In cooperation with the Fire Chief, he develops and enforces department policy establishing fire prevention and community preparedness goals, standards, programs, and procedures. He evaluates the effectiveness of fire prevention and community relations activities. He is also responsible for directing fire prevention activities such as plan review, origin & cause investigation, and public education programs for both the City of Santa Clara and Ivins. Tasks may include CERT/BERT, Ivins & Santa Clara EOC operations, equipment, staging, communications equipment, warning siren maintenance, technical review committee advisement (Santa Clara & Ivins), building & hydrant inspections workflow for crews on shift, tracking, and daily inspections work list in ESO or other electronic data tracking software.

The Fire Division Chief – Administration, reports directly to the Fire Chief and exercises fiscal stewardship, transparency, and ethical management of public resources. This position oversees all facets of fiscal and administrative workflow. This includes assisting with annual budget preparation, human resources, day-to-day fiscal operations, participating in SCIFR’s ongoing planning process, personnel health & wellness, federal & state regulation compliance, capital improvement programs, response planning, information technology, and data analysis.
The Administrative Division Chief researches and recommends improved fiscal procedures and processes for maximum efficiency. Working with the station & vehicle manager, media, drone, and communications technicians, he supports their programs by providing computer technology tools and guidance to assist them in their fiscal responsibilities. He also works with the Fire Chief to develop and monitor key metrics for measuring fiscal performance and coordinates year-end actuarial processes and required audits for Council review.
Other duties include contract & grant management, procurement, RFP & bid documentation, and maintaining department social media & website. Information technology duties include researching the best data entry & software programs and ensuring seamless integration into fire department operations (i.e., ESO Suite, Fleet IO, Jira, Lexipol Fire Rescue Academy, ESO Staffing, Active 911, Tablet Command, Orange HRM, etc.).
