Firefighting Inside of Buildings
Our on-duty crew of seven personnel is ready to respond to structure fires at any hour of the day from our two fire stations. On initial dispatch of all structure fires, we also receive a structure firefighting crew from Dammeron Valley Fire & Rescue to aid in rapid-fire suppression. Orchestration of fireground events occurs through the first arriving fire engine Company Officer who directs their personnel to protect life while simultaneously protecting property through rapid extinguishment of the fire. After the Chief Officer arrives, they take control of the scene and begin assigning any additional arriving crews to various tasks that include searching for additional victims, ventilating smoke, and saving property from damage. The initial minutes of any structure fire is a critical time for you, the resident, to evacuate the building while also alerting any occupants to do the same – never re-enter a structure. Having an escape plan ahead of time that identifies the nearest exits, and outside meeting locations and having proper working smoke detectors, are critical to keeping you and your loved ones safe.
